LG says New York too. I say Portland, Seattle or New York. I think. Ive only been to Portland though.

Hmmmm. Well, though I really dug San Fran and like the idea of having a winter home in New Orleans (though that is a risky proposition) - where I want to be right now is where I am. I love Philly. It's a major city with all the things I love about metropolitan living, while still retaining a managable neighborhoody feel. And it's close to our family. At this point in our family growing and child rearing, I can't think of any better selling point.
I still have a dream of some day living in London again, but now I see it as something we do after the kid(s) leaves the house. Of course, I think I'd move back if I became a Grandma.

I like to think I do have the opportunity to live anywhere, so where I want to be must be where I am: Philadelphia. And in truth, I think it's the best place for me. I also harbored the dream of living in New Orleans, but that's all f'ed up right now. Never been to Chicago, but I bet it's my kind of town. And although I grew up outside New York City and have spent a lot of time there, I never had the experience of living in its heart. Finally, as I get older I've started feeling the pull of someplace relaxing and natural, but where I don't know, and only as a getaway.
Too much, I know.

I'll agree with NME and Mark and Lonna- Philly. It would be heaven compared to Iowa, naturally. Actually New Jersey would be amazing compared to Iowa or the midwest in general.1

for me, it'd have to be near an ocean. as in a 2 hr drive or less to the beach. I never wanted to live my whole life in one town or city though so though I love philadelphia and its suburbs, I think I'd like to move away for a while and come back. we were thinking about savannah or somewhere in north carolina. I think west coast may be too expensive but if money were no object, I think san fran. though I've never been there.
we were also very fond of salem, mass but it gets so cold in the winter.
however, I doubt I'll ever get much further than I am now...even though montreal is in our 10 year plan.

CloudCroft New Mexico - (if it's still around - I heard it burned a few years back) But I vacationed there with my parents YEARS AGO and the cabin we were in if you went out the back door and looked up you could see the SNOW on the mountain (a ski mountain) and if you went out the front door and looked down you could see the "White Sands - desert area" so everyday you could decide shall I do hot or cold............HEAVEN I SAY!

Hard one. I hate cities, and need lots of open spaces, so I guess Wyoming, somewhere by Yellowstone.
