The End Is In Sight, People

Updated with date of the blessed induction.

31 days you guys. And actually it's going to be sooner that that. At the doctor today we were told we could schedule an induction and I nearly fell onto the floor shaking with happiness. They need to call us back with the actual date but we're going for the week of Jan 9th. I've always assumed that I would be perfectly happy to let my child come into the world on his own time. Oh how I judged the women who scheduled the births of their children for their own convenience. Oh how I'm shamed now that I know it was more for the preservation of their sanity than a need for convenience. Soon I will know that ON JANUARY 11TH we will finally get to meet our son. Hopefully he won't make an appearance before then because the shower isn't until the 7th and we could use more baby gear! Yay for baby gear!

Anyway, if you haven't already you must go read this now. It had me crying from laughter.

I'm with you on wanting to be induced, but the big question is - will they be giving you pitocin???? All I can say about pitocin is that it makes you have the WORST contractions you could POSSIBLY imagine, and I would avoid it like the plague. I would much rather have normal contractions then drug induced contractions! Of course this is completely YOUR decision, but I just thought I would warn you, because no one warned me! :) I ended up having a c-section, I pushed for over 3 hours in active labor and she wouldn't budge! Of course she had never dropped either and she was over 9 lbs. and 21 3/4 long! I know you must be ready to get that baby out! My second was a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks, and I was SOOOO glad I didn't have to wait until 40 weeks! Hang in there, it's almost over!

I'm with Allison. I was induced, and I know that it lead to my c-section. I went through false labor 9 days earlier, and I was able to deal with the contractions on my own. It was real labor that just kind of stalled, it wasn't typical false labor.

Then when I had the pitocin I was stuck in bed with monitors and stuff and I couldn't deal with my contractions the way that I wanted to, so I ended up with all sorts of drugs and stuff.

If they do induce you make sure that they do the mildest form first and then crank it up, if possible.

Good Luck! This is so close.

I also was induced, and had the pitocin. I had an epidural, and my labor was CAKE!! BUT--no one told me that induced babies have a way higher incidence of jaundice--which Sophie had, and which lead to all kinds of nursing problems. SO--not trying to talk you out of anything--at all--but just letting you know some info that I didn't have when I decided to induce.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

There are a billion things that can go wrong in labor with or without induction. But I'm focusing on the good and picturing a problem free delivery resulting in a healthy baby boy.

Visualizing the best case scenario really can help it come to fruition.

Hey! I had an induction with no problems....For me or for the baby! The labor was uncomfortable before the epidural, but I was prepared for uncomfortable! I did stall for a bit, but then progressed rapidly, and she was here with minimal pushing, and I had a very peaceful birth experience....No worries, just think happy thoughts! :)

That's my girl...I'm so there in all ways. I just hope he waits for me to get physically there for me to see his beautiful-pink-stress-free self right out of the shoot :)
