I just got back from my first cervical check. Boy that's fun. I'm sort of starting to dilate but this morning there is nothing more than a dimple where a gaping hole should be. Am I over sharing? After checking me the doc decided to send me over to the perinatal guys next door for the extra fancy sonogram because he was concerned that the shrimp isn't so shrimpy. He said he just wants to make sure everything will be safe. Ya'll my baby is 9 and 1/2 pounds already. That means a 10 pounder by delivery time. (There is a one pound margin of error so at the very least he's a 9 pounder and possibly 11.) The good news is that he's a perfectly healthy large baby boy. It's officially my mothers fault. The doctor said that the "cause" of the hugeness is genetics. Epidural here I come.

There's no such thing as over sharing at this point in a pregnancy. We want ALL the gory details. NINE and a half pounds?? Holy shit girl! Good luck with that.

My ultrasound that was two weeks before my due date had Dermot at about 10 pounds by delivery. I was told that if he was any bigger, he wasn't getting out the old fashioned way. I ended up with a C-section anyway, but Dermot was only 8 lbs. 3 1/2 ounces. Ultrasounds can be remarkably off. Although, I didn't have the new 3-D model.

I had a dimple where a hole should be too, for a long time, and then whammo. giant hole. it'll come. don't worry.

as far as the 9+ poundage? don't sweat it. you can't change anything about it so try not to worry.

I have heard from many mothers that the ultrasound predictions are almost always wrong! Mine was. They predicted that my first would be 7 1/2 pounds - she was over 9lbs. A friend of mine was told her baby would be 9 lbs and he was only 6lbs. So there seems to be a large margin of error.

Share away. We've all been there - and it doesn't get much more revealing than child birth.

They overestimated Noah's weight significantly when they did his pre-birth ultrasound - so Ellis might be smaller. And even if he isn't - your a tough girl and you can do it. Plus - it's more about head circumference than it is anything else.

    Here's hoping they overestimated!

Yes--share. And, how lucky we are to have technology to set our mind at rest--and freak it out. For the record, I LOVED my epidural.

WOW! That is impressive! Not to scare you, but Camaryn was right on target with the ultrasound. They said she was 8 pounds and she was 8lb 1oz when she was born the next day.....YOU CAN DO IT! We all believe in your pushing powers! :)

I for one like fatty babies. I was one. Of course I've never had to push one out before...you'll do great I'm sure.
